Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
My fee is £60 per session. I invoice monthly and the fee is agreed during the initial session. This amount is likely to be reviewed yearly.
How long does the treatment last?
Treatment lasts for as long as you need it and find it helpful. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is typically open ended, which means the end date is not agreed at the start. It is not a prescriptive type of therapy but one in which your narrative will unfold at its own pace through what we call 'free association', which means you may express what comes to mind even if it does not appear to make sense.
It is also possible to meet for 6 or 12 weeks if there is a very specify issue you have in mind and would like to focus on that for a fixed period of time.
To terminate sessions, and when possible, a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice is required. It is important that the ending is discussed with the therapist in advance. I take a break 3 times a year. In the Summer, Christmas and Easter and the dates will be given to you in advance.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are between 45 and 50 minutes long and take place on the same day and the same time each week.
If you are not able to make an appointment, this can be exceptionally rearranged but it is not always possible
